We delivered various ongoing data centre fit out projects for one a client who develops and operates high-performance data centres for advanced computing. Inspired by hyper scale and engineered for enterprise, cloud, HPC and AI, this award-winning data centre client supports their customer’s mission-critical workloads.
We’ve been working with this client as their client-side commissioning manager (CxA) on one of their data centre campuses in Essex. The campus has the first data centre facility complete and fully operational providing 8.8MW across 4 x 2.2MW Technology Suites. Three of our technology suites are currently available for colocation.
The remaining three data centre buildings will provide a further 30MWs of capacity between them. Each of these buildings can be designed in line with the occupier’s bespoke needs and developed accordingly.
Each building in the £200 million campus is split into four halls, totalling around 150,000 square feet of net technical space. In addition, each technology suite will be capable of supporting a 2200KW IT load, representing a total technical load of 8.8MW per data centre.
One of the projects was to add an additional data hall cooled via IEC units utilising processed water, fed electrically via the packaged substations, backed by UPS systems and generators. All monitoring via BMS/PMS was captured on the ignition system which sits across the existing data halls within the building.
We were appointed to provide witnessing and management of the commissioning services on behalf of the end client using our vast experience to ensure that our client’s vision was delivered to the highest quality.
Our duties include:
Completing a Commissionability review
Issuing a commissioning plan to outline the project and the client’s requirements
Track the project commissioning and witnessing, including key milestones, logging and recording all witnessing events (issues & otherwise) and report effectively
Interact with the principal contractor, monitor progress and attend commissioning or client meetings
Sample witnessing static & dynamic testing and ensure it’s compliant against the consultant's design, relevant standards and client expectations.
