Our Mission Critical division recently helped support the delivery of Kao Data’s Phase 2 of KLON06. The upgrade of the co-location 4MW data centre involved a comprehensive enhancement of its mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, to support the expansive Technical Suite. This includes:
New MV Generators integrated into the existing MV Generator ring with Selective Catalytic Reduction.
Additional LV Power Streams with close coupled MV RMU, Transformer, LV Switchgear and UPS.
EPMS, Fire Alarm & Security control panel integration.
Indirect Evaporative Cooling, Dry Air Coolers, CRAC units, and Air Handling Units.
The objective of the project was to optimise operational reliability, scalability, and environmental compliance, while seamlessly integrating with existing infrastructure.

Our team were the Commissioning Authority (CxA) on this project, and their key responsibilities involved:
Building on lessons learnt from the previous phase & implementing these for this phase, and future phases.
Carrying out an independent Commissionability Review.
Authoring the integration plan, where new systems interface with existing ones.
Consulting & reviewing all commissioning processes and documentation and providing guidance as and when required.
Witnessing and validating all MEP systems.
Reporting regularly on commissioning-related activities and issues.
Preparing a Final Commissioning Report.

Assisting and informing the GC’s commissioning plan and providing overall direction and strategy.
The identification of Actions & Issues throughout the project lifecycle, alongside co-ordination of relevant stakeholders to ensure satisfactory close out.
Leading and reporting on Factory Witness Testing.
Assisting with Level 4 and Level 5 Script Authoring.
Providing clear communication to the client on progress and any risks identified.
Overall, the Phase 2 co-location data centre upgrade successfully delivered a state-of-the-art infrastructure, positioning the facility as a benchmark in efficiency, reliability, and sustainability. This project highlights the importance of meticulous planning, innovative solutions, and close client collaboration in achieving seamless integration and operational excellence.
